Welding Engineering


Through the expertise of Albert Schepers, GS Engineering Consultants Inc. has extensive welding knowledge. We offer a variety of welding engineering services and work in many sectors of the manufacturing industry. Our range of services includes automotive automation, machinery bases and components, mining and hoisting equipment, bridge structures, building structures, water storage vessels, oil storage vessels, bridge cranes, and ships (to name a few). We also certify companies to CSA W47.1, W47.2, W186, AWS D1.1, D1.2, and D1.6 through the Canadian Welding Bureau. In addition to welding engineering, we design welded and bolted connections, do fatigue analysis on welded joints and components, do weld failure and quality analyses, and manage weld repair projects.

As part of our welding service, we work closely with GS Inspection Consultants Inc., a CWB certified inspection and testing firm, to do non-destructive testing and quality control on building structures, steel bridge components, ramps, machine components, storage racks, and many other metal products.

GS Engineering has prepared welding procedures and data sheets using the following welding processes:

  • shielded metal arc welding (SMAW);

  • flux cored arc welding (FCAW);

  • metal cored arc welding (MCAW);

  • gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW);

  • submerged arc welding (SUB); and

  • gas metal arc welding (GMAW).

We have prepared welding data sheets using the following materials:

  • low alloy high strength steels;

  • cast iron;

  • aluminum;

  • copper;

  • to name a few.

  • CSA W59.2;

  • AWS D1.1;

  • CSA W47.1;

  • CSA W47.2;

  • CSA W186;

  • AWS D1.2;

  • AWS D1.6; and

  • ASTM Section IX.
