Residential Design and Structure

This project involved the complete structural design and construction drawing package for a new two-storey barndominium residence in North Buxton. The design followed a modern pole-barn aesthetic with slab-on-grade foundations and wood post-frame construction, combining the character of a rural barn with the comfort and function of a full-time home.

The home features two covered porches—a deep wrap-around front porch and a rear patio-style porch—both integrated into the framing and roof design to create inviting outdoor living spaces. Attached to the main residence is a large barn-style garage, forming a unified footprint that blends lifestyle and utility.

We worked closely with the client and design team through multiple iterations to refine the layout, flow, and overall vision. The result is a floor plan that balances open-concept living with private zones, all tailored to the client’s everyday use and future goals.

Our scope included engineering design for all structural elements, including pole-barn framing, slab foundation details, and full roof and floor framing systems. Building permit drawings covered all phases of the build, including foundation plans, framing layouts, building sections, and a site plan prepared using 3D mapping tools to guide approvals.

This project reflects a collaborative design process and a full-service engineering approach—delivering a highly customized rural home that feels both practical and personal from the ground up.
