Industrial Building Design and Structure
This project involved the expansion of an existing industrial facility to support increased operational demands, including the extension of an existing overhead crane system. GS Engineering provided full architectural and structural design services for the addition, along with a comprehensive building code review.
As the original designers of the base building, GS Engineering was uniquely positioned to execute this addition efficiently. The original design had anticipated future expansion, with footings already sized and placed to accommodate the new column loads—minimizing disruption and reducing construction time.
The addition features a steel frame with an open web steel joist roof system, designed for long-span efficiency and compatibility with the operational requirements of the space. The structure was detailed to support the overhead crane, with attention to load paths, lateral resistance, and connection points.
Our architectural scope included layout planning, elevations, and coordination for permit submission, ensuring seamless integration with the existing facility. This project highlights our long-term design thinking and ability to deliver tailored industrial solutions with foresight and efficiency.
